1475098 Immunological test device F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 9 Dec 1974 [10 Dec 1973] 53105/74 Heading G1B A test device comprises a test slide having applied to it an immunologically reactive material, the immunologically reactive material being in lyophilized and self-adhering form and adhering to the test slide even after several washings with aqueous solution. The test slide may be a glass or synthetic polymeric material and is preferably transparent; it may have depressions in its upper surface for reciving the immunologically reactive material and in its lower surface to protect the surface from damage which would spoil its optical properties. The test slide may have a writing area at one end. The immunologically reactive material may be suspended in for example saccharose or sodium chloride solution and applied dropwise to the test slide. The solution is then dried by heating and the residue lyophilized. The device is preferably used in indirect tests using a fluorescence-labelled antigen. Examples relate to devices comprising Toxoplasma gondii, Entamoeba histolytica and Trypanosoma cruzi on polystyrene film carriers, and the use of these devices with fluorescein-labelled anti-human globulin in indirect tests on human serum.
