<p>The system is particularly for a brush on a horizontal axis movably mounted in the frame of a stationary vehicle washer. The frame reciprocates in relation to the vehicle by an electric motor and chain drive, and a mechanism on the frame keeps the brush bearing against the vehicle at constant pressure. When this is exceeded, control pulses reverse the motor to move the brush away. Between the drive mechanism and the roller (11) moving the brush (B) is a freewheel (19). When the motor (13) is running in the direction to move the brush away, this freewheel engages, but in the opposite direction it breaks the drive to the roller. The motor is normally driven continuously in the second direction, being only reversed when it receives the control pulse.</p> |
