1475514 Coated viewing screen RCA CORPORATION 20 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 27395/74 Heading B2E A method for preparaing an optical viewing screen having a glare reducing surface includes the steps of i) heating the surface of a support preferably of glass to 30‹C-100‹C, ii) coating the surface with an aqueous solution containing a lithium-stabilised silica sol, iii) drying the coating, iv) baking the coating at 150‹C to 450‹C and v) subsequent to the baking step, washing the dry coating with hot water. The washing water may have a temperature of above 40‹C and be applied to the coating for 0.5 to 20 minutes. The dry coating may include 1 to 10 weight per cent of carbon particles having an average particle size of less than 100 millimicrons. The dry coating may also include a colour correcting dye in proportions sufficient to produce a neutral gray transmission of light to the human eye.
