<p>1475400 Cutting and lifting concrete SIPOREX-FRANCAIS SARL 10 July 1974 [11 July 1973] 30528/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] A moulded, cellular concrete block 7 (Fig. 5) is lifted whilst still plastic from its moulding platform 6 by a pair of jaws 13, cut into sections while supported from below by elements 27, and then transferred to a conveyer belt. The cutting and lifting device comprises a rectangular frame 10 (Fig. 2) supporting a pair of arched girders 12 and a pair of clamping jaws 13. The operative faces of the jaws are divided vertically into a plurality of foam rubber covered projections 15, and are movable horizontally by jacks 18 (Fig. 5), while guided by wheels 17 engaging the girders 12. Two opposing sets of fingers 27 are supported as cantilevers on supports 25 and rigid end pieces 28 (Fig. 8) and are movable towards one another with wheels 30 running along the end members 11 of the frame 10. The end pieces 28 support bifurcated heads 32 engageable (to the right of Fig. 8) with the piston rods of jacks 33 for vertical movement. A cutting frame 22 (Fig. 2) is driven by a screw along a shaft 19, and supports vertical steel cutting wires 23 (Fig. 7) that normally are seated in the gaps between the jaw projections 15; the frame 22 is guided by wheels engaging the girders 12. Operations.-A moulded cellular concrete block 7 is positioned beneath the cutting and lifting device by a wheeled carriage 6. The device is lowered with the jaws 13 and fingers 27 spaced widely apart. The jaws 13 are moved towards one another to firmly grasp the block 7, and the device and block raised (Fig. 5) by a crane and pulleys. The sets of fingers 27 are moved towards one another on the wheels 30 (Fig. 8) and then raised by the jacks 33 to take the weight of the block 7 while the pressure of the jaws 13 is released although they still contact the block. The cutting frame 22 (Fig. 7) is moved to cut the block into sections in a single traverse, the pressure of the jaws 13 is increased again, the fingers 27 returned to their initial positions, and the cut block 7 moved by the crane and pulleys on to a conveyer.</p> |
