<p>1446904 Seat belt anchor assembly U O P INC 23 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 54403/73 Heading A3V [Also in Division A4] An anchor assembly for the seat belt of a multi-passenger vehicle seat comprises a pair of pivot links 60 pivotally mounted on the vehicle floor by brackets 62 and an elongate support member 78 connected between the free ends of the links and adapted to anchor at least the inboard and preferably also the outboard members 90, 88 of the respective seat belts, the pivotal mounting of the links on the brackets allowing the support member to be displaced from its operative position wherein it rests on a portion of the seat to a stowed position wherein the links and support member lie flat on the floor behind the seat. The member 78 suitably comprises a flat bar 80 with lateral rods 82 and is mounted by one of the rods on the links through bolts 86 so as to be pivoted on the application of a load by the belts in order that the load is transmitted across the width of the member for greater strength. The brackets 62 are bolted to support plates which are fastened to the vehicle floor and to reinforcing angle members welded to the floor.</p> |
