Appts. for selectively distributing material from a hopper comprises a vertical sepn. partition which terminates above the hopper emptying orifice and which divides the hopper into a transit section and a reserve section. The mouth of the transit section is placed just above the emptying orifice and has a surface which corresponds to the surface of the hopper mouth so that material contained in the transit section empties automatically and the transit section empties completely before material from the reserve section beins to be emptied.
