<p>The arrangement serves for removing heat from hydraulic fluid used in torque converters fitted on heavy duty vehicles, on which the converter acts also as a hydrodynamic brake. Aftr a prolonged braking action, such as occurs when the vehicle is negotiating a long slope, considerable amount of heat is produced, which has to be quickly removed so as not to impair the operational qualities of the hydraulic fluid. The space saving design allows the cooler being futted within the sump of the converter with immediate fluid entry into the cooler. Each plate has an inlet and outlet opening. The openings of the same function are mutually connected. The two skins of each plate are welded together along the edges, the cavity between the two skins is maintained by beadings pressed into the sheets to create fluid passage ways.</p> |
