<p>1435568 Magnetic disc recording apparatus MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 20 June 1973 [20 June 1972 (3)] 29341/73 Heading G5R A flexible magnetic sheet 10 is clamped to a surface of a rotatable disc 12 which is recessed at 15 over the region in which a magnetic head 42 can contact the sheet 10. The recess can be grooved, Fig. 4 (not shown), and can be positioned around the disc periphery. Fig. 5 (not shown). The sheet 10 may as shown be backed by a second flexible sheet 11 of, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, aluminium foil or a plastics similar to the base layer of the magnetic sheet 10. The sheets are clamped by a nut 23 and a plate 30 on to a screw-threaded spindle 18. The disc may be driven at high speed by a spindle motor 26, or at low speed by a rimdrive capstan 27 engaging a resilient or frictional peripheral layer 28. The head 42 is pivoted about a shaft 35 which is also axially slidable by a manually-rotated lead screw 38 for radial scanning, a finger 37 on the shaft 35 engaging in the thread when the head arm 36 is lowered by a cam 43.</p> |
