Panty hose is knitted in a single operation and in a single piece on a circular knitting machine. The panty portion is knitted on three or more regions of the machine in a cyclic fashion, the needles being operated to narrow or widen the panty portion as required. The panty portion is formed horizontal courses of stitches. The panty hose is cheap to produce and the party portion has sufficient elasticity for it to grip.
