<p>The bottle may be made from glass and has a screw thread (9) around the outside of the neck (8). The screw stopper (1) is made of thermosetting plastic material and has a cylindrical portion (2) which fits over the outside of the thread on the bottle. The top of the stopper is fitted with a cylinder which fits inside the neck of the bottle. The inside of the plastic cylinder also has an internal screw thread of the same pitch as the thread on the bottle. The thread is formed from two rectangular sectioned ribs (5, 6) which can be deformed sideways and come into contact with the side of the glass thread.</p> |
