<p>The combined gauge and cutting guide is for use in cutting carpets during fitting. The gauge comprises an elongated block of triangular section with a knife locating groove (5) in the apex. The length of the base (7) of the triangle equals that of one (2) of the other sides. Thus by setting the rear (6) in a wall to floor angle, the carpet can be cut to fit precisely. The gauge in section may have a flat base (7) a leading side which subtends an angle of 85 deg. with the base, and finally a side (2) which subtends 30 deg. with the base. The ramped side (2) runs into the base by means of a concave transition curve (1) and incorporates the cutting groove (5) at 90 deg. to the top edge (3).</p> |
