Facing panels are attached to the sub-frame of a building by means of a mechanism which prevents the top of the panels from swinging outwards. The base of the panels are supported either on the panel immediately below or on the foundations of the building. The mechanism consists of a tie-rod (7), the ends of which are supported behind rigid plates (10,22) cast into both the inner top part of the panel and the outside of the frame. A small space (18,26) is left behind each plate to allow for the tightening of locking nuts (29,30) on the tie-rod by means of a key. A layer of material such as fibreglass can be placed between the panels and the sub-frame and this is compressed as the rods are tightened up, forming an insulation layer.
|
