Tractor attachment for topping sugar beet - has flexible rotating rubber blades to remove stalks and clean tops after initial removal of leaves

The attachment is drawn behind a tractor and comprises a rotating cutter in a frame. This removes the leaves from sugar beet roots in the ground. Behind is mounted a square section shaft (5) carrying rotating flexible rubber blades (12) which remove stalks and clean the tops of the beet. These blades are in sets of three, two sets being mounted on opposite sides (10) of the shaft at intervals corresponding to row widths. Each blade is divided longitudinally into two sections (14a,14b), the root portion being thickened. This root fits in a holder (6) attached to the shaft, location ribs (12,13) preventing movement when rotating.
