A MIG-welding rig includes after the rectifier units a non-linear quadripole with a low-pass filter characteristic. This produces no output voltage for an amplifier feeding the electrode wire feed motor if its input is below a minimum welding voltage. Otherwise it causes the motor to rotate at a speed proportional to the quadripole output voltage.
