Fluid stream temp. measurement - uses temp. sensor in thin walled poorly conducting pipe section

The temperature of a fluid stream is measured by a preassembled unit installed in the pipe system. The fittings (2)are threaded, soldered or flanged. The temperature measuring instrument comprises a third-walled pipe section (1) which corresponds to the inside diameter of the pipe system. The centre of the pipe section houses a temperature sensor (3). Both this and the pipe section are surrounded by a thermal insulation (4). The pipe section is made from material which is a poor conductor of heat.
