Conveyor belt made of a heat-resistant elastomer with a tension inlay has mounted on its upper surface movably interengaging plates made of flexible heat-resistant plastic reinfroced with inlays. The plates are pref. rectangular and extend across the full width of the conveyor belt, and have key and groove arrangements or stepped arrangements for mutual movable engagement between them. Pref. the plates are made from a mixt. of fluorohydrocarbon or silicone rubber and glass or asbestos fibres, in which the fibre proportion comprises 40-60 wt. %. The plates do not need to withstand tensile forces, nor do they need to embody the elastic properties of the conveyor belt. The plates can also be made of partic. high heat-resistant material. They can easily be replaced in case of damage due to excessive stress.
