1313121 Method of producing a stand of plants STUART GOODALL Ltd 19 Jan 1972 [3 Feb 1971] 3850/71 Heading A1E A method of producing stand of plants comprises providing a base formed of particles of material 10, with or without one or more flexible sheets 11, on top of the material 10, capable of floating on water 12, floating said base on water contained in any suitable container such as a shallow tray 13, placing seeds 14 on top of the base, and allowing them to germinate, thus providing a stand in which the roots penetrate into the base. Water lost by evaporation may be replaced under the control of a float-operated valve. Subsequently the base can be removed or separated from the water. Alternatively the tray, 13, may be replaced by an impervious flexible sheet, suitably supported so as to form a tray shape. Subsequently the water can be drained off. |
