The awning carrier arm comprises tubes, with interior surfaces sloping at an angle to the direction of main loading, connected at the ends to shaped components insertable in them by joint sockets. The sides of the tubes (1, 2) parallel to the main loading direction have a narrower walling thickness in the central area. The joint sockets (25), fitting the tubular opening, are wide enough to accommodate a pressure seating in the area of the sloping surfaces and the sides at right angles to the loading direction. The arm is easily manufactured and installed and is stable.
