The mechanism serves for fixing a balance window in the tilted position by applying a locking assembly acting on the window operating mechanism. The locking mechanism is fitted on the vertical edge of the leaf in the vicinity of the lower corner of the leaf, where locking plate (4) is fixed to the frame (2). The plate has a slightly curved rocker bearing surface (5) and a leaf mounted bearing angle (11). The plate (4) is fitted on its upper end with a fork-shaped locking recess (6) with rounded base and works together with locking lever (15). The locking lever (15) is vertically positioned and is linked by hinge pin (16) to push rod (21). The pin has a flat part (17) which slides in slot (13) of rail (12). during the upward movement of the rocking lever head part (18) of the lever works together with the open ends of recess (7) and the leaf is drawn against the frame. At this stage the operating mechanism holds the leaf in closed position.
