A spiral type air-operated sifting or filtration device has a distributor plate to pre-accelerate the material fed into the system. The pre-acceleration is provided by a thrower or distributor disc attached to the rear of the axial boundary wall alpha the system. The material to be sifted is fed into the sifting chamber (1) by means of a concentric annular gap in a rotationally symmetrical manner. A gas pump operating independently from the peripheral insulatory velocity of the boundary wall is used to provide the sieving gas flow.
