In a sight glass assembly a lens 13 is held in position by a ring 17, held in position on a housing 12 by screws 33, compressing a resilient member 16 between an inclined wall 28 formed on the housing 12 and the periphery of the lens 13. The member 16 is preferably formed of premoulded resilient adhesive material such as silicon rubber, and adheres to the periphery 30 of the lens 13 and the surface of the ring 17. A protective liner member 36, Fig.4 and 5 (not shown), may be provided between the periphery of the lens 13 and the surface of the ring 17 and the corresponding opposing surfaces of the member 16 to protect the member 16 from corrosion. |
