The screen for electric cable is made from a strip of metal spirally wrapped. The various layers of the metal strip overlap one another and join at the overlap points. The metal strip material used is tinned copper. The pressure arising during the wrapping of the metal strip around the cable together with simultaneous heating, forms a soldered joint. The copper strip may be tinned on both sides or on one side only. An area along the edge of the copper strip alone may be tinned.
