<p>A joint between a rigig pipe and a flexible pipe (1), uses a flange (8) with a skirt (10) on the flexible pipe. In the free state, this skirt (10) extends rearwards from the joint face (15). The rigid pipe (2) which may be of metal or hard plastics has an end flange (9). The two pipes butt together, with the metal collar (3) surrounding the flexible pipe (1). The collar (3) is forced downwards to deform the flexible flange (8) until the skirt (10) is gripped in the recess in the collar (3). The chamfered end (7) reduces the effort required to fit the collar. The coupling is applicable to water hoses for vehicle cooling systems etc.</p> |
