<p>The assembly drum comprises end cylinders of variable dia. made up of radially adjustable segments and a centre section made up of segments which follow the same radial movement. The segments are mounted on interconnecting guides which join the end cylinders together, and are thus constrained to move radially (for changing the dia.) with the end segments. The segments of the centre section are elastic plates, sliding on the guide tubes and held apart at equal intervals by compressed spring cartridges. The drum is esp. for use in small factories. To change to a different drum size for a different size (radially and axially) of tyre, no changing of parts is necessary. The operation takes only a few minutes.</p> |
