High speed press with electrodynamic drive - has ram drive unit with capacitors and frame mounted solenoid

The high speed press has electrodynamic drive unit for the press ram. The drive unit consists of electrically conducting drive plate on press ram, solenoid held on press frame and capacitor discharged through the solenoid. The working stroke duration is half the oscillation period of the oscillating circuit. The minimum stroke length is one tenth of the solenoid diameter. High cutting speeds are achieved with high efficiency and long life of the solenoid. The deformation energy and the cutting speeds within the range of 10-22 metres per second are specified by the moving mass of the press ram (2), press tool (3) and the driving plate (5). The resonance frequency of the oscillating circuit is specified in terms of the cutting speed for the working stroke range varying from 10-30 mm.
