In the plant, the primary circuit components of steam raising units and circulating pumps are an integral configuration effecting a reduction in overall containment and plant component dimensions with consequent cost economies. The steam raising units are housed adjacent but external to the reactor pressure vessel containment with the motor driven circulating pumps mounted either vertically or horizontally beneath and partially encapsulated by the steam raising unit containment. The primary circuit pipework between the reactor and steam raisers is pref. short and further space economy is effected by using concentric pipes with the inner acting as flow to the steam raiser and the annulus between the two pipes as return flow to the reactor.
|
