The conveyor is particularly for handling highly abrasive material such as iron ore, and comrpises a trough in which bars hauled by a chain or rope work. The chain (14) or rope driving the bars (13) runs outside the trough and behind a partition (17), in which there is a slot, running in the direction of transport. The bars extend through the slot. The trough can be of angle section, with the slot incorporated in the upright flange. Where the conveyor is of the reciprocating type, the bars can hinge between working and idle positions on the forward and return strokes. Their pivot pins (22) are situated behind the partition. |
