1474303 Water insoluble dyestuffs BAYER AG 15 Oct 1975 [15 Nov 1974] 42260/75 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises water insoluble dyestuffs of the general formula wherein A is an optionally substituted cycloalkylene radical, Z 1 and Z 2 are H or halogen and a and m are 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. Preferably A is a 5- to 14-membered monoto tetra-cylic radical and Z 1 and Z 2 may be Cl or F. They are prepared by (a) reacting a compound of the general formula wherein E is a substituent which can be exchanged under the reaction conditions with a compound of the general formula HO-(CH 2 ) n -A-(CH 2 ) m -CN at elevated temperatures in presence of a basic compound and optionally an organic solvent, or (b) reacting a compound of the general formula with a metal cyanide at elevated temperature in presence of an organic solvent. The dyes are used to dye or print cellulose esters, synthetic polyamides, polyurethanes and polyester cotton unions optionally from organic solvents and may also be used to spin dye polyamides, polyesters and polyolefines.
