<p>The yarn top or tow is passed, under the action of a heated gas, through a U-shaped tube, the inlet branch of which has a bore which increases gradually, or in steps, towards the bend, and the outlet branch of which has a bore which decreases gradually or in steps to form the bend to the outlet end of the branch. Pref. the outlet branch is surrounded by a cooling jacket. The invention is an improvement of the apparatus disclosed in the Parent Specifn. No. 723,864, in that the velocity of the gas flow through the tube is constant.</p> |
