Aminopeptidase from Pseudomonas putida - for stereospecific hydrolysis of racemic amino acid amides

Prodn. of aminopeptidase prepns. comprises culturing a Pseudomonas putida microorganism and isolating the resulting aminopeptidase or otherwise making it accessible to a substrate. The products can be used for the stereospecific conversion of DL-alpha-amino acid amides to the corresp. L-alpha-amino acid and D-alpha-amino acid amide, esp. for the conversion of DL-phenylglycinamide to L-phenylglycine and D-phenylglycinamide. The microorganism is pref. P.putida A.3.12 (ATCC 12633) or a mutant thereof. This is pref. cultured in a medium contg. yeast extract and mandelic acid.
