The sealing for the opening in the aircraft fuselage forms an apron with spring inserts which are held firmly in position by the tension straps within the fuselage against swinging out from the fuselage. This cover arrangement is independent from the compressed air supply and the fabric of the cover forms the actual seal while the spring inserts ensure the maintenance of correct form and stiffness. The wing tip is completely retractable into the fuselage, when the seal flap edges overlap by straightening out by their natural resilience or that of vertical bracing ribs on either side. |
