1466139 Repairing worn frogs ELEKTRO-THERMIT GmbH 24 June 1974 [27 June 1973] 27983/74 Heading B3V [Also in Division E1] A method of repairing a worn frog 1 comprises cutting off the frog 1 together with sections of adjoining rails 2, the worn frog 1 is then cut-off from the rail sections 2 at their weld joint positions 5 the frog is reconditioned, and new rail sections of specific length are welded on to the the reconditioned frog simultaneously by alumino-thermic welding, whereby the loss in length occasioned by cutting is compensated. This is done by allowing a gap which is filled by welding using a mould. The heads and feet of adjacent rails 2 may be joined by welding a fillet between them. |
