Visual or sound warning device designed to signal the overheating of any appliance or equipment. It uses in combination a smoke, light, or explosive effect pyrotechnic charge (1) and a thermal probe (15). The probe (15) has a pyrotechnic composition (18) and is designed to ignite under the effect of a determined temperature value. The arrangement of the device is such that the ignition from the thermal probe can be transmitted to the warning effect change. The warning effect charge is located inside an envelope (2) one of whose ends carries the thermal probe and the igniting composition. A firing composition (8) being placed in contact with the warning effect charge.
