The pot (2) has tapered sides and a rim (3) around the top which forms a ledge (13), slightly concave to give a bearing surface. An outer container (5) is also provided, this being larger than the pot and with less tapered sides (4). The mouth of the container is beaded (6, 16) to hold the concave bearing surface under the pot rim. In this position, a space (8) is formed between the bottoms of the pot (8) and the outer container (9), acting as a reservoir for the water supply (10). This is fed to the plant by a wick (11, 12), placed in the pot when the plant is potted.
