A honeycomb building element is improved where the element contains >=1 cavity forming a sheet of air, the cavity being open on at least one side of the element. The novelty is that at least the surfaces on opposite sides of the cavity are provided with a coating reflecting infrared radiation, the coating possessing a coefft. of emission below 0.7. The coating is pref. provided in all the cavities in the element, esp. using a base contg. metals. The pref. base is a resin contg. the fillers Al, Cr, Ni or Ag. Alternatively, a paint may be used as the base, and also contain the metal fillers. The coating may be applied by immersion or spraying, and a priming undercoat may be used. The coating reduces heat transfer by radiation occurring across the air cavities, without the need for an expensive lining of thermal insulation being included in the element.
|
