The open ends of hollow articles, esp. of plastic materials, are ultra-sonically sealed by gripping the end during or towards the finish of the heating phase, and keeping it gripped further while the article is removed from the ultrasonic field. The mechanised process has a high output and is suitable for filling and sealing operations, the seals have excellent appearance, ultra-sonic heating is safe, easily and precisely timed, has low energy input and requires no special cooling arrangements. |
