The regulator includes a cylindrical vortex chamber with one closed end and a central opening connected to the suction side of an engine at the other end. Exhaust gases are directed into the chamber through a first nozzle in a radially inward direction. A second nozzle admits atmospheric air tangentially. This ensures that the recycled amount of exhaust gases is proportional to the air intake of the engine. The regulator contains no complicated moving parts. the design is simple and functionally reliable.
