The locking bolt (13) of the steering lock is operated by a sleeve (4) surrounding the lock cylinder (2), and coupled to the cylinder by a peg (3). The peg drives the sleeve axially using a groove in the sleeve, with the locking bolt hooked over the edge of the groove with its shaped end (14). The sleeve is extended to near the keyhold and is secured at that end by a spring loaded ratchet 7) so long as the key is in the lock. When the key is fully withdrawn the bolt can drop home. It can only be lifted by inserting the key and turning the cylinder, until the ratchet drops home again.
|
