Tube forming apparatus is particularly useful in closing a thermoplastic inner length of material inside a non-weldable outer length of material by welding a longitudinal overlapping seam. A heating strip is positioned on the upper side of the tube-forming plate. Above the heating strip there is an endless pressing belt for pressing the film edges against the heating strip. Its lower section lying on the material is spring-tensioned or weighted. Pref. the heating strip is coated with PTFE.
