<p>The mechanism is for a set of linked numbered rollers on which numbers are mounted which represent the day, month and year, for use in postal franking machines, and in which the numbers are geared together to allow easy updating. The device consists of 5 numbered carrying wheels corresponding to the day of the month (1, 2) the month in Roman numerals (3) and the year (8, 12) mounted on one shaft in a chassis. An auxiliary shaft (6) carries auxiliary toothed wheels (10) which mate with a shaped dog (9) on each numbered wheel to allow updating to be effected from day to day simply by moving the least significant digit, corresponding to a day forward by one place.</p> |
