<p>1473736 Composting apparatus TOA-THRONE KB 7 Aug 1974 [7 Aug 1973] 34895/74 Heading C1B A composting apparatus comprises a base which is partly horizontal 14 and partly indined 15, a support 15<SP>1</SP> for the waste material which is spaced from the inclined part of the base and is provided with apertures 19 for passage of air into the receptacle from a duct 17 formed between the base and the support, the apertures having individual covers 20. The covers may overlap one another and be spaced from one another by spacing means 22. The angle between the horizontal and inclined parts of the base is preferably > 100 degrees. The cross-sectional area of the duct may decrease as the distance from the horizontal part of the base increases and the duct may extend along the horizontal part, being formed between the base 14 and a false bottom 14<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 1). Alternatively the cross-sectional area of the duet may increase with distance from the horizontal part (Fig. 2). Semicircular downwardly open distributing members 30 (Fig. 2) may be included extending into the receptacle from one of the covers, and may be anchored at their other ends to a downwardly extending wall 29. The apparatus may include a door 23 for removal of material, and may comprise a lid 25 which may be of similar shape to the apparatus so as to fit thereinto when inverted. A substantially horizontal part of the lid may have an opening for attachment of a lid or toilet seat 26, and an inclined part of the lid may be provided with an inspection door 32. The lid may be provided with a gas outlet tube 27. The apparatus may comprise an electrically heated matting located in the duct, and may be made from P.V.C.</p> |
