1473958 Cams MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 16 June 1975 [20 June 1974] 25558/75 Heading F2K In an I.C. engine cam, for operating a valve via a flat-bottomed sliding tappet or flatbottomed follower against the force of a closing spring, the acceleration and deceleration regions are divided into a total of five phases I to V, without the necessity for symmetry, in which the acceleration phases (I and V) of the opening and closing flanks are determined by a fourier series of the third order, the phase II following the opening flank and the phase IV in the deceleration region before the closing flank yield an exactly constant gradient in the lubrication number curve (as defined in the Specification) and in phase III in the region of maximum deceleration a constant lubrication number (S) (as defined in the Specification) is obtained to which the cam lift Z is mathematically related, all five phases I to V being mathematically defined in the Specification. |
