Actuating mechanism for commercial motor vehicle sliding roof - includes electric motor with two speeds ensuring optimum closing condition

The actuating mechanism for a combined sliding and lifting roof of motor vehicle has electromechanical actuators. Electric motor used for driving has switch for forward and reverse rotation. When the roof is closed then a switch disconnects power supply to motor. The electric motor has a second, higher speed which becomes effective when the combined sliding and lifting roof travels in horizontal direction either on opening or closing. This arrangement ensures that the roof does not overshoot end positions and it is closed in optimum closing position. The second higher speed is switched on by a switch actuated by the movements of the roof. The second higher speed is disconnected and changed over to slower speed shortly before the roof reaches the closed position or when it is moved from closed position into opening position.
