Multi-ply film laminate mfr. - from laminae which are simultaneously extruded via a common wide-slot die opening

Mfr. of a thermoplastics multi-ply laminate comprises extruding the component laminae simultaneously via a wide-slot die opening. The laminae are extruded in unequal widths and conveyed to the wide-slot die opening in such a way that marginal strips of any relatively wider lamina protrude on both sides w.r.t. any given narrower lamina. Any marginal strips to be trimmed off may be recycled to the extrusion process. In some cases, such trimming operation may even be unnecessary. Necking is avoided and laminate has an accurate finish.
