Turbulent fluid vessel sealing method - has baffle extending towards fluid at lid join

The vessel is for turbulent fluids, particularly boiling water, and comprises a pot and a sealing lid fitting onto it. Where the pot (1) and the lid (5) join, a baffle (9) is provided, extending towards the boiling fluid. It can bear against the lid, and extend in steps inside the vessel and and in the direction of fluid movement. It can be of V-section and of elastic material, its free ends being clamped between protrusions on pot and lid. The material used for it can have a higher coefficient of expansion than that of the vessel. Alternatively it can be integral with the pot or lid, with a hollow chamber formed between baffle and vessel, in which the kinetic energy of the wave of penetrating fluid is dissipated.
