<p>Guide surfaces on machine tools to be protected from foreign matter, are fitted with wiper strips of an elastic material which wipe off any foreign matter which dropped onto the guide surface. The fixing of the wiper strip is carried out by wiper holder section fixed to the underside of the on the front edge part of cover by welding or riveting. The cross section of the holder is suitably shaped to retain the elastic wiper strip which is fitted to the holder by slipping it on. To achieve a safe fitting on the holder the wiper strip and also the holder are provided with retaining groove and dovetail-like undercut. Between the wiper strip and holder a similarly shaped expanding reinforcing strip is fitted.</p> |
