Process for preparing chlorofluoromethanes by reaction of methane, chlorine and a recycle mixture of halogenated hydrocarbons, containing prevailingly carbon tetrachloride, with mineral calcium fluoride in a fluid bed at a temperature of from 450 DEG to 600 DEG C and for a contact time of from 0.5 to 120 seconds.
