Rolling mill fitted with hoists mounted on swivel beams - for rapid changing of inlet guides and feed rolls

The top ends of the two roll stands are fitted with carrier frames which move horizontally and are fitted with hoists. The frames are pref. fitted with a pair of beams, esp. a pair of beams mounted on a vertical pivot shaft on the driven side of the mill; and a motor, worm and wormwheel is used to swivel each pair of beams on its pivot shaft. The workpiece inlet guides are pref. mounted on rest bars located on the stands and fitted with eye lugs so they can be raised by the hoists. The device can be used for changing the guides and feed rolls without employing a travelling overhead crane which normally has many other tasks to undertake. The beams and hoists can be used to lift the rest bars or feed rolls; and the beams are then swivelled through 90 degrees to stations for interchanging the various parts.
