The organ pipe has a gap control system to regulate its operation. To stimulate the organ pipe the air gap (4) which is cut into the labium of the upper pipe section is exposed or opened, by depression of a key (1) to allow passage of air. The system can be applied in similar means to pipes of open design. Only sufficient force to raise the air gap stop is used in the system, and this may be applied directly or remotely using an electromagnetic coupling.
