1473830 Pelletizing knife mounting SIMON-BARRON Ltd 21 Nov 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 59594/73 Heading B5A The rotating die ring 11 of a roller and ring pelletizing machine is enclosed by a housing 14 which is hingedly openable to a position permitting access to the die, and a stationary knife 18 which breaks material issuing from the die into pellets, is carried by a shaft 19 which extends through the housing 14 and is mounted for axial displacement within a sleeve 21 in a member 20 to adjust the position of the knife 18 with respect to the die, and the shaft 19 and sleeve 21 are additionally mounted for simultaneous axial displacement through the member 20 away from the die, so that the knife 18 is positioned to clear the die 10 when the casing 15 is opened. For its axial displacement within the sleeve 21, the shaft 19 is provided with a pin 23 which extends through a slot 25 of the sleeve 21, into an annular groove 26 of a hand wheel 23, which is threadedly mounted on the sleeve 21 for displacement axially therealong, to displace the pin 23 along the slot 25 as the hand wheel 23 is rotated, with the sleeve 21 being constrained against axial and rotational displacement by a locking screw 27 engaging through the member 20 into a blind bore 28 of the sleeve 21. The blind bore 28 is provided at a sleeve location having axially extending slits, to form a collet which acts to clamp the shaft 19 within the sleeve 21 when the screw 27 is tightened from a position permitting the axial displacement of the shaft 19 within the sleeve 21. For simultaneous displacement of the shaft 19 and sleeve 21, the screw 27 is slackened to clear the bore 28 and the sleeve 21 is manually slidingly displaced with the shaft 19 through the member 20, to an extent limited by a slot 29 extending axially of the sleeve 21, and within which locates a pin 30 secured through the member 20.
